Testimonials

“This third volume is a compendium of creative therapeutic techniques for use with children, youth, and families. Seasoned therapists, as well as beginners, will find new ways of communicating therapeutic content in developmentally sensitive ways. The book’s user-friendly format helps clinicians match interventions to specific treatment goals and serves as a welcome addition to the field.”

“Liana Lowenstein has gathered a wonderful array of activities to use with children, youth, and families in therapy. It is indeed a creative collection of practical and engaging ideas from therapists from around the world who know what works. The age suitability guides, sectional divisions and clear activity outlines makes this an immensely and immediately usable resource.”

“I love this Third volume of Assessment and Treatment Activities for Children, Adolescents and Families—it is an excellent resource when working in a focused manner with clients. If you are a clinician that utilizes expressive art activities, games, or varied modalities, you are sure to find many ideas in this excellent resource.”

--Theresa Fraser, CYW, MA, CPT

“In this book, Liana Lowenstein has gathered together more useful assessment and treatment activities from different practitioners. Like the other books in her series, this book is full of creative and playful interventions to engage and assist children in therapy. The activities are set out within a framework, providing the practitioner with clear information about who the activity is appropriate for, the materials and instructions required to undertake the activity and reflective discussions to further clarify the process of the activity. A great resource for Play Therapists, Therapists, Counsellors and Therapeutic Practitioners.”

Important message regarding fraudulent misuse of my training materials
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It recently came to my attention that another therapist plagiarized my work. My entire Sexual Abuse Training Handout (over 70 PowerPoint slides) was copied verbatim, my name was removed from the handouts, and the individual presented the material as being her own original work during the training sessions she teaches (and sells) online. Of course, the unauthorized use of my material is illegal under copyright law, represents a serious ethical violation and is not the professional behavior I have learned to expect in our field—not to mention that fraudulent misrepresentation is a crime!
Many of us grant permission for mental health practitioners to utilize the material from publications and from training handouts for direct clinical work with clients. However, let’s be reminded that permission for any use of the material from publications or training handouts for any other purpose, must be requested in writing from the author to get appropriate approval. We all need to continue to appreciate and respect each other’s work and execute ethical standards of practice!
As a result of the above, I feel compelled to alert my colleagues to remain vigilant regarding their own professional intellectual property. Please continue to place copyright statements on all of your work and verbally remind attendees that presentations, handouts and all professional material remains the exclusive property of the presenter, even after a training event has ended.
